How do I know if I have to be seen in Employee Health and Wellness?
Employees with a Hospital ID badge that states “HOSPITAL ACCESS”, need to have an Preemploymment Physical Assessment and annual self assessment regardless of whether you are a State, Research Foundation or FSA employee. There are some other groups that may be included in this process as well. Please reach out to the HR associated with your position for questions related to whether or not you require an assessment.
When is my Annual Physical Assessment due?
All Annual Self Assessments are due on your Birthday month. The EXCEPTION is for those employees who are credentialed through the Medical Staff office (MD’s, Residents, PA’s and NP’s). Medical Staff office will notify you when your Annual Assessment is due.
Do I have to come to EHW?
Perspective employees may choose to have their private physician do the Assessment on the forms utilized within Employee Health and Wellness. However perspective employees are responsible for any charges incurred if the decision is made not to use Employee Health and Wellness. After completing the form, your physician may fax it to Employee Health and Wellness at our confidential fax 444-6199 or you can bring the signed original to our office, we’d love to see you!
Do I need vaccines annually?
A flu shot or declination is required during each influenza season even if you have received it or declined in previous years.
The Department of Health also requires that all employees show proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps and Rubella prior to working. If you do not have any vaccination records, call Employee Health and Wellness at 444-7767 and we will be glad to bring your requirements up-to-date.
On hire an IGRA test (T-spot or Quantiferon Gold) or 2 step PPD is required within the 3 months prior to starting the position. Annually, a TB symptom and travel screening is conducted. If you have been exposed, had travel within the previous 12 months to a high TB burden country or were part of a medical mission an IGRA test will be performed.
What should I do if I am injured while I am at work?
ALL EMERGENCY INJURIES MUST GO TO THE ED. If you are injured at work and it is not life or limb threatening, please feel free to come into EHW during office hours for an evaluation. We will determine what your next step will be. Don’t forget that all injuries should be documented on an Employee Accident and Investigation Report (Incident Report). There are three parts to this form: 1) For you 2) For your supervisor and 3) for EHW.
What if I am stuck with a needle or any other Sharps object?
If you are stuck with a needle or any other sharp object during office hours, please come down to EHW immediately for further evaluation. We will immediately proceed with Hospital and Departmental protocols, Policy and Procedures. If the injury occurs during hours that Employee Health and Wellness is closed, please proceed to the Emergency Department immediately for further evaluation and treatment. Remember, this is an injury. Therefore, an Incident Report {Note: link to form} must be completed. We will help you fill one out when you come to EHW.
Should I come to work if I have been in contact with someone who may had the following: Chicken Pox, Measles, Pertussis, Diarrheal Disease, Skin Rash and any other disease of concern to you.
