SUNY Tuition Reimbursement

Administered by Human Resources, this program is for employees attending non-SUNY schools and Community Colleges.  Twenty-five dollars per credit can be awarded, to a maximum fiscal year of $300.  The money comes from the employee's department and is based on available funds.  For more information, please call Shirley Menzies at 444-4759.

SUNY Tuition Waiver

Administered by Human Resources, this program is for employees attending SUNY schools (except Community Colleges).   A percentage, not necessarily 100%, of one course, to a maximum of 3 credits can be waived each Fall and Spring semester. 

Hospital Clinical Nursing Assistant Program

The Hospital Clinical Nursing Assistant Program is a  six-week educational and clinical preparation program for current Stony Brook University Hospital employees to prepare to become Nursing Assistants.  Currently there are no fees to the employee associated with this program.  Entry and completion of the program does not ensure or guarantee a job as a Nursing Assistant. 

Requirements: 

  • Must be a current Stony Brook University Hospital employee
  • Must have been employed at Stony Brook University Hospital for at least one year prior to the start of the program
  • Must have a written reference from your immediate supervisor
  • Must complete a State Employment Application
  • Must present a written essay of why you want to become a Clinical Nursing Assistant

Credit-By-Examination Fee Reimbursement

Credit-By-Examination Fee Reimbursement can provide unlimited reimbursement for credit-by-exam fees through College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), DANTES, TECEP, and Excelsior College. These exam programs allow you to earn college credit for what you already know. If interested, visit the web sites for CLEPDANTESTECEP, and Excelsior College examinations and then contact the Partnership and speak with an advisor to obtain an application form.

College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP)

The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) gives you the opportunity to receive college credit for what you already know by earning qualifying scores on any of 34 examinations. Earn credit for knowledge you've acquired through independent study, prior course work, on-the-job training, professional development, cultural pursuits, or internships.

Certification & Licensure Examination Fee Reimbursement Pilot Program

The Certification & Licensure Examination Fee Reimbursement Pilot Program can provide reimbursement for one certification or licensure examination fee up to a maximum of $300 during the pilot April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009. To be eligible, the examination must be job-related or career-related; must lead to certification or licensure for an occupation that currently exists in New York State service; and must be administered by an accredited organization.
