Disability Insurance

Disability Insurance may provide income in the event an employee is unable to perform their job due to illness or injury.  While NYS employees are not eligible for NYS Short Term Disability Benefits, please check with your union for available plans.

Employees eligible for enrollment under the New York State Health Insurance Program are eligible for long-term disability insurance through SUNY after one year of employment.  There is no cost to employees for this benefit, and enrollment is automatic. Benefits payable after six months of disability, subject to approval.  The benefit is 60% of monthly salary, not to exceed $7,500 per month. UUP
